Jake and I celebrated eight years of marriage yesterday. We both agreed time is going too fast. We talked about our wedding, and had to laugh at the things we remembered so differently and the things that stand out so clear to us. My parents graciously volunteered to watch the kids, and let them have a sleepover. So, after a day of cleaning and visiting with Dathan, Carly, and Paul the kids and I headed to Vernal around 4 to meet up with Jake and drop them off for their sleepover. Both kids were thrilled to be at Grammy and Papa's, and hadn't been there for what felt like forever. Bronson was funny as he went through the house remembering all the fun things there are to do. We told our kids bye, wished my parents good-luck, and went out for our date. We started the night shopping for some Birchell family Christmas gifts (our party is tomorrow). We found some good stuff at Cal Ranch. We decided Ichiban was our restaurant of choice, and were happy when it wasn't too busy. In fact the only other people in the restaurant when we got their was Jake's favorite teacher from high school and his wife. They visited and caught up with one another, and had a lot of fun reminiscing about old hound dogs. This teacher was the first person to take Jake hunting with hounds. His teacher checked him out of school and took him to the Book Cliffs for 5 days to hunt bears when Jake was only 15. Jake also got his all time best hound dog, Bull, from him. I thanked him for being the one to blame that we own so many hounds ;) The funny thing was I remembered meeting him at our wedding and thinking how cool it was that he and Jake had such a neat bond. And I haven't seen him since… (I do hear about him a lot still. And anytime people talk about good dogs his dogs names are brought up.) The sushi was WoNdErFuL, as always! Then we decided to skip a movie, just go to Wal-Mart, and head home. The kids did great at their sleepover, and I was excited to pick them up this morning. It was a great day!
