I took Brilee in for her 12 Month well child check yesterday, and Dr. Staker said she is doing perfectly. She weighed in at 23.3 pounds and is 29 inches tall. She has almost tripled her birth weight, and she has grown 10 inches. She had to get her booster H1N1 shot and it made her cry a little, and so the nurse gave her a sucker. We had plans to go to lunch with friends and I didn't bring a clean out fit, and so when the sucker got really messy I had to take it from her. Trust me, the cry from me taking the sucker was 50 times worse than the cry from the shot! Again... no pictures.
In November Dr. Staker told me Brilee had a blood clot in her right tube. The blood clot made it so the tube was not functioning. She has had two ear infections since the tubes, and so something needed to be changed. We tried prescription ear drops and water from the bath, but the clot would not go away. Since Christmas Brilee has been pulling at her ear constantly, she pulls her hair (even when she isn't trying to pull her bows out), and hasn't been sleeping good. I have had the suspicion something wasn't right, but didn't know what to do about it. When Brilee got sick last Dr. Beals recommended I take Brilee back to the Ears, Nose, Throat Specialist to get his opinion. So today we went and saw Dr. Catten. He said her left ear looked fine, and that is why she has only had two ear infections (at least something was draining). Her right ear was a mess though! He said the clot is big enough that it is pushing on her ear drum and causing her to have a constant pain/annoyance. He compared it to being poked in the eye all day long and not knowing how to stop it. He said we could either strap her down to the bed, poor hydrogen peroxide in her ear for a couple of days, and try to pull the clot out with a microscopic tool. He then said that probably wouldn't work, which made me happy because I did NOT like the sound of that option! Second option was to replace the tube Monday morning in out patient surgery. He said it would be just like the last time; five minutes, in and out, easy, and worth the hassle. He will be replacing both tubes so we can be starting fresh with both ears. I am glad we are doing this, and hope this time it will last a little longer! No pictures of this, but you can GUARANTEE there will be pictures taken Monday morning.
Since I cant' make a post without pictures I will add these cute pictures of Brilee. She loves the chair Granny made her. She climbs in and out of it all day. She gets a little scary when she tries to climb from the chair to the window seal, but she is figuring it out one fall at a time!
Our whole family has spring fever! She loves to just look outside. I can't wait to be able to take her outside!
