Cabin Fever

To help heal our cabin fever we decided to go up to the cabin. The cabin is about fifteen degrees warmer than Rosey Town, out of the inversion, and beautiful! It was such a great day. My dad smoked a prime rib, my mom made yummy potatoes, and we showed up and ate it! Brilee had a great time, and wore herself out. She fell asleep in the Rhino on the way down the hill to the truck. Thanks so much for the fun day!
We drove the Rhino up to the cabin, but we would have been faster to walk! The snow was melting and soft so the Rhino had a hard time making it. At one point Jake and I were both pushing the Rhino. Jake steered and I held on to Brilee. It made for an adventure.
Brilee loves the cabin! She has decided she only wants her bottle at night and during the day she wants her sippy cup. She always has it.
Brilee kept trying to wrestle Tator. He wasn't loving it, but he tried to be patient.

If you look close you can see the inversion behind us. Underneath those nasty clouds is Roosevelt and Vernal. We haven't seen the sun in weeks. Today was such good therapy!

Traumatic Day

Jake decided that after six months he would finally cut his hair. He shaved it himself and we all sat and watched him. Brilee was very interested for the first ten minutes, and then she took of to play. When Jake had finished we were excited to show Brilee. We thought it would be so funny, but we were wrong. Jake picked her up and she looked at him and then started screaming/bawling! I took her and she kept looking at Jake and crying. It was so sad. He put his hat on and she went to him and started looking closely at him which of course made her cry more. She cried for twenty minutes. The poor girl was so worried/scared. Next time I don't think Jake will be able to make such a dramatic change to his appearance!
This was about twenty minutes after he had finished.
She was so scared.
Elly had to calm Brilee down.

Julie took me to this awesome store called Wood Connection. We bought the block letters, and then Friday night we painted, stained, and sanded them. They are so cute, and fun to make!

Busy Times!

Today is Jake's b-day. We didn't do much, but we were able to spend a lot of time together. We went to lunch together, and then we were able to go to dinner with my parents. Brilee kept trying to sing Happy Birthday today, and it was the cutest thing! The poor guy had to go to work tonight though. Jake is such a great Dad, husband, and person. We love him so much! Happy Birthday Jake. I forgot the camera and so no pictures.
I took Brilee in for her 12 Month well child check yesterday, and Dr. Staker said she is doing perfectly. She weighed in at 23.3 pounds and is 29 inches tall. She has almost tripled her birth weight, and she has grown 10 inches. She had to get her booster H1N1 shot and it made her cry a little, and so the nurse gave her a sucker. We had plans to go to lunch with friends and I didn't bring a clean out fit, and so when the sucker got really messy I had to take it from her. Trust me, the cry from me taking the sucker was 50 times worse than the cry from the shot! Again... no pictures.
In November Dr. Staker told me Brilee had a blood clot in her right tube. The blood clot made it so the tube was not functioning. She has had two ear infections since the tubes, and so something needed to be changed. We tried prescription ear drops and water from the bath, but the clot would not go away. Since Christmas Brilee has been pulling at her ear constantly, she pulls her hair (even when she isn't trying to pull her bows out), and hasn't been sleeping good. I have had the suspicion something wasn't right, but didn't know what to do about it. When Brilee got sick last Dr. Beals recommended I take Brilee back to the Ears, Nose, Throat Specialist to get his opinion. So today we went and saw Dr. Catten. He said her left ear looked fine, and that is why she has only had two ear infections (at least something was draining). Her right ear was a mess though! He said the clot is big enough that it is pushing on her ear drum and causing her to have a constant pain/annoyance. He compared it to being poked in the eye all day long and not knowing how to stop it. He said we could either strap her down to the bed, poor hydrogen peroxide in her ear for a couple of days, and try to pull the clot out with a microscopic tool. He then said that probably wouldn't work, which made me happy because I did NOT like the sound of that option! Second option was to replace the tube Monday morning in out patient surgery. He said it would be just like the last time; five minutes, in and out, easy, and worth the hassle. He will be replacing both tubes so we can be starting fresh with both ears. I am glad we are doing this, and hope this time it will last a little longer! No pictures of this, but you can GUARANTEE  there will be pictures taken Monday morning.

Since I cant' make a post without pictures I will add these cute pictures of Brilee. She loves the chair Granny made her. She climbs in and out of it all day. She gets a little scary when she tries to climb from the chair to the window seal, but she is figuring it out one fall at a time!
Our whole family has spring fever! She loves to just look outside. I can't wait to be able to take her outside!

Brilee's ONE!

I never finished my count down to Brilee's birthday (it is amazing how busy I am, even without work!). It's okay though because I started my blog in May, and that's where I left off. Anyways, Brilee's birthday was awesome. We had such a great day. We went to Vernal first thing in the morning, and spent the day (and night) over there. Brilee had such a great time at her party. She played, ate mac-n-cheese, opened presents, stuck her hand in the flame of her b-day candle, ate cake, received her first sugar high, took a bath, and finally fell asleep three hours AFTER bedtime. She LOVED all the attention she got at her party, and we are so grateful for everyone who came and called!
Right before we left for Vernal
Big ONE
She took a good nap before her party!
The girls partying!
The boys partying!
Brilee the fish.
We had the kid meal downstairs, and the adult meal upstairs. Kids ate corn dogs, pizza, bread sticks, mac-n-cheese, top raman, and chicken nuggets. The adults ate chili verde.
YUM YUM! Brilee LOVES mac-n-cheese
Brilee kept giving Caleb loves. She sure loves all her cousins!
Brilee opening her presents with Chazlynn's help.
Brilee and her audience.
Bri Bear's teddy bear cake. While we were singing to her she tried to grab the candle. Everyone screamed, stopped singing, laughed, and then sang again.
Brilee with her own cake. (I will post more pictures of her digging into the cake when I get them from my dad.)
Brilee needed two things after her cake... 1. A bath to get the cake off of her 2. A bottle to wash the cake down with.
The love sac is always good entertainment for kids!

April

In April Brilee met her GGMA, GGPA, and her Aunt Jackie. As soon as I found out I was pregnant I started planning a picture with Brilee, Jake, me, my parents, Jake's parents, and all of my grandparents. Brilee is so lucky to have this, and I will always treasure these pictures.

We also started work in April. I love my job, and I love that Brilee got to come with me so long. Here are pictures of our first day back.

March

Brilee got to meet her Aunt Cathy, Aunt Amy, and Uncle Roger for the first time in March. It was so much fun having them come to Vernal to visit us. Brilee sure was spoiled by them!

February

February was a big month for Brilee. She met her cousin Cy for the first time on 2/7/09 (a day after he was born). Since Brilee doesn't have a big brother I hope Cy will kind of fill in that role. They are quite the pair!
We snuck Brilee into the hospital to meet Cy. She wouldn't wake up, but we all had fun taking their picture.
This was the first time they were both awake at the same time.
Memorial Day.
Christmas Party!

She had her first outing (other than to the hospital) to Marley and Chazzlynn's birthday party.

She stayed in her car seat the whole time...

She went to her great grandparents house and met her cousins Conner and Ryann.

February was a great month.

Brilee's Countdown

Brilee will be ONE in twelve days! During these twelve days I am going to make a post of the major things that happened each month of her life... So we start with January.
1/22/09
Jake and I went to the hospital for my NST test. I had to do these every other day for the last five weeks of my pregnancy. I talked Jake  into coming with me to keep my company. For some reason my blood pressure would NOT go down that day. Jake went home around three to get the computer and ipod to keep us entertained. Around five thirty a nurse mentioned that Dr.Nolte had told her if my blood pressure wasn't down by the end of their staff meeting he was going to start me. That didn't help my blood pressure go down! So, sure enough, at the end of their staff meeting Dr. Nolte came in and said we were done dealing with the blood pressure. He broke my water at 8:30 PM and Brilee was born the following day at 2:30 AM. Brilee was taken to the nursery after she was born and Jake, my Mom, and Granny all went with her. I sat in my room for an hour and a half trying to call Jake to come tell me what was going on. They all got lost in time and neither of them realized how long they were gone. Luckily, Jake had the video camera so he came to show me what was going on. Finally, the nurse brought Brilee to me. It was so great to finally meet her and love on her. She was (is) the best baby! Brilee had lots of visitors at the hospital. Everyone was so excited to meet her. After staying at the hospital 36 hours they let us go home. The following day we took Brilee in to get her routine check, and they told us she had jaundice. She lived under the lights for two long days. She got over her jaundice, started eating, and the rest is history! We love you Brilee Rose.
Beautiful Brilee
Some of her first visitors at home... they were all very anxious to meet her!
Jaylie wasn't scared of the lights! She embraced them!
First time with Daddy.
Mommy was all smiles!

Birthday Month

January is our month of birthdays! We celebrated my birthday and Granny's birthday this weekend. For my birthday we went to Vernal and went out to dinner with my parents, and then Jake and I went and saw The Blind Side. We LOVED it! It was such a great day, but poor Brilee was pretty sick and so that made it hard. We forgot the camera on my birthday, and so this is the only picture we got of me on my big day... snuggling my sick little baby while she sleeps.
For Granny's birthday Jake and I were asked to bring the cake. We decided to make cupcakes, pineapple upside down cake, and german chocolate cake. We had fun making something other than pies! Garn and Aaron organized a big dinner for Granny's party. We had orange chicken, egg rolls, ham fried rice, and lots of other yummy things. It was a fun night. Next up on the b-day list... BRI BEAR!
Our desserts.
We had a dud cupcake and so we let Brilee try it out to practice for her birthday...
She made a mess!
It was so bad we just threw her in the bath tub.
While we were baking Bri Bear and I got to wear our CUTE new aprons Aaron made us for Christmas.
Lighting the candles... Jake and I thought we were funny and put trick candles on the cake. They tricked us, because they didn't even work.
Happy Birthday to you!
The girls were pretty excited about their cupcakes.
Granny and most of the kids at her party... Julie was hiding behind Granny and Brilee thought she was playing with her, and so she would not look at the camera for anything.
