This weekend started off much like the rest... us running later than we wanted. We got off work, went to Wal-Mart, went to Jacelynn's birthday party (our adorable little neighbor girl), and finally got packed to go. Jaylie had mentioned she would like to come with us, and you can't have Jaylie without Chloey. So, we had the pleasures of both of them... Plus Jens. ( Chazzy wanted to come, but started getting homesick at Maverick. I called her Mom, and she met us at Big O to get her.) We were both so relieved it happened then, and not when we were already out there. We left Roosevelt at 8:30. The older girls and Bronson rode with me. Jake, Jens, and Bri were in the truck. We followed Jake, which was slow. He was pulling the Rhino back down. We listened to the Union/Uintah football game the whole way down. We finally rolled into camp at 10:30. Bronson instantly woke up, and was up to play. All the kids got extremely hyper and ran around camp like a bunch of goof balls. They were excited to see their friends (Dale's grand kids were back and they go to Eagle View too). Bri just loves being with her cousins and plays her little heart out. At 11:45 Jake and I were unloaded and ready for bed... the kids weren't though. We got all the beds made, kids organized, and turned on Charlotte's Web (our favorite right now). Chloey and Jaylie were out instantly. Bri and Jens lasted until 12:30... and BRONSON, 1 in the morning. GEEZ... Jake got up at 5, not because he wanted to, but because Dale invited his whole family with their million dogs and that's what time they go hunting. Jake normally sleeps in until 5:30 and goes at 6. We were so bugged by our extra campers. (But they all left today so we are hoping we won't have to move camp again.) The girls, Bronson, and I slept until 8. It was an awesome night because Bri slept with Chloey all night! She never came to get into my bed. After we were all ready for the day we went to get service to call Jake. He said to head to Moon Ridge... excitedly we headed that way! It was a LONG ways away, and not very comfortable in the rhino. It was hot, and I hadn't realized exactly how far it was. FINALLY we tied in with Jake who had dogs stuck on ledges in the bottom half of a wicked canyon. He turned them out on a bear, they jumped it, and it ran all morning. It never wanted to tree. He missed seeing it run across the road by 100 ft with the dogs chasing it. (Don't worry... he showed me all the dogs tracks plus the bear tracks to prove it was legit.) He took off for his brutal hike around 12, and I took the five kids I was in charge of back to camp. I put Bronson in his car seat in the front, and the other four cozied up in the back. We got to our old camp spot and I drove the kids down to wash off in the spring. It was such a relief to splash that ice cold water all over our heads. It was seriously crazy hot! We got back to camp and ate lunch. The kids then played like crazy! Bronson had slept a little on the Rhino so he wouldn't nap. The whole weekend Bronson was without shoes. I could not find his shoes anywhere. That was a little rough. Stacia and Chuck showed up and we hung out all afternoon with them. Jake came back to camp with tired dogs, and he was a tired guy. We took a girls trip back to PR Springs to rinse off with the fresh water. The girls loved having Stac with us. When we got back to camp we fixed dinner, and visited. Then Stac and Chuck went for a drive while Jake, the kids, and I went to the Horrocks' camp. One of the people with them had a pet raccoon. It was so weird. It climbed up Jens' leg, bit Jake, and scared Bronson out of his mind. That is a pet I never want. We went back to camp and Bronson passed out by 8. The kids had s'mores, and then it was bed time for everyone! They were so disgustingly gross that we made each one of them shower. We started with the youngest and went in order by age. After about 30 minutes all the kids were in bed. Stub the Cow Dog was turned on and Jens and Bear were asleep before the credits were ran. Stac, Chuck, and Jens all woke up early to go with Jake Sunday. We slept in, and took our time getting ready. Around 10:15 we went to call. I had Jaylie drive the rhino down the road, and then Chloey. They loved it. It was hilarious. The whole time Chloey drove I had to tell her to go faster, and the whole time Jaylie drove I was threatening that she wouldn't drive again if she didn't slow it down. Jake texted and said get back to Moon Ridge. I didn't want to go, but the girls were hoping to see a bear. We went to camp and got pillows and blankets (it was so cold Sunday). We left and I was in no rush to get there. We took breaks and I couldn't get Jake to answer his phone or text me back (no service he claims). Finally, I gave up and we turned around. We had a good time on the way back, but were ready to be at camp. Again Bronson slept just enough in the Rhino to not sleep again. Around four the mighty hunters returned with all sorts of crazy bear stories. Apparently, Jake turned the dogs loose on a fresh track. They all walked with the dogs cause they knew it was FRESH and they would jump the bear quick. Jake heard them jump it and took off running down the canyon. Stac, Jens, and Chuck followed just behind. Well, Jake was sure the bear would run downhill, but it really ran uphill. RIGHT AT THEM. Jake said he charged at it, while Stac and Jens screamed and ran the other way. Jens yelled "MOMMY!!!" Stac said it was so funny. Chuck just kinda missed out with all the utter confusion going on. The stupid bear (ok... genius) ran right down the canyon the dogs got stuck in the day before. This time they made it further down but still got stuck on a ledge and no bear went in a tree. It sounds like the hardest hike imaginable, and Jens made it the whole way! Jake was one proud uncle. As soon as we heard all their stories we took off. I got in the car and what was the first thing I saw on the floor of the car???? Bronson's shoes... awesome. It rained most of the way home. We made it home in 1 hour 26 minutes. Jake and Bri got home a few hours after us. Love these memories we are making!
Jaceylynn had a princess party. Bri went as Ariel and Jace was Rapunzel. Cute girls!
Somebody (I'm sure the protestors) but pink flamingos all over the road construction site. The girls really wanted one, but I was kind of scared they might be dangerous. So we took a pic, and left them be.
Seriously... how did Jens do it?!
The dogs even got carried.
